This hilarious book is about a ferocious cat called Tuffy. Poor Ellie is horrified when her cat, Tuffy, drags a dead bird into the house. Then a mouse. Before long, another apparent victim arrives though the cat-door. Can soft-hearted Ellie get her beloved pet to change his wild, wild ways before he ends up in even deeper trouble?

Visit to Nottingham Central Library

On 12th March 2024, Year 2 visited Nottingham Central Library. We learnt about the resources that local libraries provide, and we discussed how important Reading for Pleasure is, and the benefits of this. We then had a chance to read for pleasure by exploring the selection of books

Spring Term- Fantastic Mr Fox

This term, Year 2 will be reading Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl for their class reader. The story follows an intelligent and sneaky fox trying to out-smart the farmers who have had enough of him stealing their animals...

Boggis is an enormously fat chicken farmer who only eats boiled chickens smothered in fat.

Bunce is a duck-and-goose farmer whose dinner gives him a beastly temper.

Bean is a turkey-and-apple farmer who only drinks gallons of strong cider.

Mr Fox is so clever that every evening he creeps down into the valley and helps himself to food from their farms - and those GHASTLY farmers can't catch him!

Now the farmers have hatched a plan to BANG-BANG-BANG shoot Mr Fox dead! But, just when they think Mr Fox can't possibly escape, he makes a FANTASTIC plan of his own . . .

Autumn Term Class Reader.

This half term in Year 2 we are going to be reading 'The Truth Pixie' by Matt Haig.  I wonder why they are called the Truth Pixie?  This is a wonderful rhyming book where will find out about what true friendship is.

You can find some more of his books for children on this website: Matt Haig's books for children from Canongate

Autumn Term Class Reader: The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark

This half term, Year 2 will be reading The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson. Why is the owl afraid of the dark? Will he overcome his fear? Who will he meet along the way? This book is a wonderful look at the unseen side of the dark.
