Mrs O'Leary- Cooking Around the World

Welcome to the Cooking Around the World topic team!

We got off to a great start in our first session on Friday 11th September when we started with a British classic, Apple crumble! We used the apples grown from our very own apple trees and chose a more healthy crumble recipe by adding oats to the crumble topping.

For the second topic team (Friday 25th September) we made curry. The children had mixed reviews when smelling the garam masala and turmeric that we used to flavour our curry but they all agreed it tasted delicious. Some even asked for more to take home!

Session three saw us have a taste of Italy with some delicious pasta. We all worked hard to chop up lots of vegetables to add to our dish. We had peppers, onion, courgette, carrots and tomato. We worked out that there were 12 portions of vegetables in the one pasta dish! Super healthy! We baked it in the oven with Italian mozzarella cheese on top. Yum!

For session four we became bakers! We worked hard to knead our dough until it was ready to bake. We decided if we wanted to add sundried tomatoes or olives and shaped the dough into whatever shape we wanted.


While it was baking, we had a tasting session! We tried different cured meats from Italy and Spain and olives. We all took our bread home to taste when school had finished. Below is the recipe if you would like to try it at home. I certainly enjoyed mine!
