Spring Term 1

Friday 8th January 2016

Today we made Spicy Potato Wedges which are a much healthier option than chips.

Some of us had never tasted Wedges before so it was a pleasant surprise to find that we all liked them. Below is the ingredients if you would like to make them at home with your grown-ups, they were quite easy but really tasty.

4 medium-sized baking potatoes

4 tablespoons olive oil

4 teaspoons curry powder

4 teaspoons ground cumin

1/2 tablespoon chilli powder

pinch of salt.

How to make.

Wash potatoes, pat dry and cut into wedges

Par-boil potatoes and drain

Mix all ingredients together thoroughly and add olive oil

Pour mixture over par-boiled wedges then carefully fold potatoes

into the mixture

Spread evenly on to a non-stick baking tray and bake for 25-30 mins.

Today we made our own burgers from scratch, take a look below at the ingredients and how we made them. We decided we would have girls versus boys to see who made the best burgers. I couldn't say, you were all amazing at following instructions and helping each other. Brilliant Teamwork!

Friday 5th February 2016.

Today we made pancakes, we decided on these because pancake day is very close and we will be breaking up before it is Topic Teams again. We had a variety of fillings from Oranges ,Blueberries to Marshmallows and Whipped cream.

It also worked lovely with it being Number day today. We had to measure out all our ingredients , however it only showed us how much we would need for 8 pancakes. We knew we needed 27 so we worked  out that we would have to triple everything.

Have you noticed anything about my problem solving skills?

What have you noticed?

Can you solve it?

How did you solve it?

Friday 12th February 2016.

Well done Matthew and Kodie who both noticed my calculation was wrong. You correctly worked out that triple 8 is 24 so we would need to multiply by 4 to have enough ingredients for 27.

Pasta salad with roasted vegetables

It is our final cooking class for this term, we had spoken about what we would all like to make and everyone wanted something with pasta.

Take a look at the ingredients below and you will see it is full of lovely healthy vegetables, hopefully it will taste even better than it looks.

Hope you all have a safe and happy break. Look forward to hearing what you thought about our pasta dish and if you made it over the holidays.
