Poached Pears

 

1st   We put boiling water in a pan and put black current juice inside.

2nd   We peeled some pears with knives and potato peelers

3rd  We put cinnamon and brown sugar in the boiling water and put the pears in with it.

We then waited for around 20-25 minutes until they were soft and removed from the heat.

They looked so different , they were a pinky, red colour.

Welcome back everyone, hope you all had a lovely Christmas break.

 

Today we have made a Courgette, Onion, Tomato, mixed herbs and Cheese Omelette.

A really quick and healthy meal/snack.

Most of the children were not impressed when I revealed what we were making, saying they don't like egg or courgette however being risk takers ,participators and team workers they soon changed their minds.sadsmileyno

 

Lucas class 4- "I thought it was extraordinary because I usually don't like egg."

 

Emanya class 5- "I thought it was spectacular and unexpected."

 

 

Friday 9th December 2016

 

Today we made a fruit salad, together we chopped Bananas, Apples, Pears and added a Satsuma, finally we poured some smooth orange juice into it to complete.

 

We used  skills like cutting , keeping our and our friends fingers safe. We listened carefully and followed instructions.

 

This was our final cooking session before we break up. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Jacket Potato with a twist.

 

This week we made jacket potato, we scooped the inside out of the skins, mixed tuna and spring onions into the potato and put it back in. We then grated cheese on top, placed in the oven for 15 minutes until the cheese had melted.

 

A lot of the children were adamant before  we began that they didn't like tuna  or potato, however they agreed to keep an open mind.

They were all pleasantly surprised!

Hi all, this week we made Bagel Pizzas.

Really simple and a healthier option to regular Pizza.

 

Method/Ingredients

 

Cut Bagels in half, place cut side up in grill till lightly toasted, remove, add lower-sodium marinara sauce.

Grated cheese ( toppings of your choice),

onion, tomato, sweet corn.

Place under grill for 2-3 minutes or until cheese melted.

I think it was amazing.

I thought the Bagel Pizza was exquisite and one of the best foods I've tasted.

The pizza was beautiful and healthy.

 

Emanya class 5

I thought the pizza tasted better with the toppings than a normal one.
